THE GREAT BABY BLANKET PROJECT

A HEART       FOR MISSION NEEDED!

SEND JOY!

The Guardians of the Visitation, working in the spirit of Mama Mary, offer assistance through The Great Baby Blanket Project!

We ship new and gently used items for newborn babies to be distributed to moms in the Philippines and bring blankets to Kenya.   Many mothers are unable to bring all the items suggested by hospitals for expectant moms to have with them prior to giving birth. Among the suggested items are a onesie, flannel, or blanket to wrap the baby, a cap, mitts, and booties for the child.

CIAO BABY!

Welcome bags for newborns are shipped from the United States to the SSV Sisters at the Bato Mission. The bags are gifted to mothers, post-delivery while resting in the hospital or at home with their newborn child and contain a baby blanket, onesie, and cap or booties, a homemade welcome prayer card, and a blessed Miraculous Medal pinned to the blanket.  The welcome bags are distributed by the Sisters Servants of the Visitation at the Eastern Samar Provincial Hospital in Borongan and during home visitations.

HERE IS HOW YOU CAN HELP WELCOME A CHILD  :

  • Start a baby blanket drive through your faith community or civic group. Collect new or gently used receiving blankets.  Blankets made of bamboo, gauze, cotton, or light flannel material are best for the climate.

  • Sew or crochet blankets -  30" x 40" is just about right!  Soft, machine-washable fabrics make a perfect cozy wrap for a newborn!

  • Search out discount stores, clearance aisles, thrift stores, and garage sales for blankets, caps, and onesies to purchase and donate.

  • Throw a Baby Blanket Shower!  Gather friends to bring gifts of kind aid to women embracing their newborn children in a foreign land. Fill a Balikbayan box for shipment to the Philippines!

  • Send your blanket donation directly through Amazon SMILE.

  • Donations of white, pink, or blue ribbon are also very much welcomed.
