January is Mission Month!

Writer's picture: Paula Paula

Happy 2020! Missioners Tom and Paula Radel with granddaughter Brigid departed New York for Borongan on a 10 day Mission trip to Borongan to work with the Poor Household of God Sisters and the Sisters Servants of the Visitation at their Mission Aid Home in Brgy. Bato. With the SSV Sisters they will travel to the area around Guian. Typhoon Phanfone, also known as Typhoon Ursula, destroyed many homes and livelihoods as it slammed along the southern coast of Easter Samar on Christmas Eve. The missioners will have an opportunity to bring food and clothing to the families most affected by the storm and deadly storm surge that follows these storms. The surge is most devastating to the very poor people living to low lying coastal areas who depend on the sea for their livelihood. The Sisters Servants of the Visitation are waiting for permission from the Diocese of Borongan to move to serve this area once the First Responders and utility company volunteers had cleared the roads for safe travel.
